Not for me...... 10.28.06 9:01am
My friend Bejay sent an email with the subject being, “Republican Beliefs.” I have selected some of that list, and would like to share them with you, if for no other reason than for you to have a good laugh.
Jesus loves you and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.
Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him, and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden"diversion.
Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is Communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.
If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.
Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy, but providing health care to all Americans is socialism.
HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at heart.
A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense, but a president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.
Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.
And now 7sz’s absolute favorite……..
Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host; then, it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.
Recap of Last Night 10.26.06 6:25pm
Last night was amazing. The children really gave you something. Gigi Monroe started the night off great with an S&M number complete with a shaved head boy as her slave. Nicole Paige Brooks brought you Cinderella with a gown so gorgeous my eyes were hurting. Lastly, Genre gave you complete and utter fantasy with a lots of ivy and a stab wound. She will have to explain it to you. All I can say is that, there is not a craft store inside the perimeter that has ANY fake ivy in stock.
Wednesdays are now Wonderful 10.25.06 5:57pm
The last month has brought me many great things. A trip back home to my high school reunion, which turned out to be a lot of fun, changing foliage which makes my thirteen minute drive to and from work a little more interesting, and last but not least, DRAG IDOL 3.
Each Wednesday I sit at my desk anxiously awaiting the evening hours, knowing that soon, I will be entertained by gender illusion of all sorts.
For those of you that aren’t familiar with DRAG IDOL 3, it is a competition very much like American Idol, but on drag terms. Each week, there is a different theme, ie; broadway, rock, country etc. Tonight is Fantasy. MMhhhh I wonder what the girls and boys will bring to the table this evening.
I haven’t been addicted to anything like this in some time. When I lived in Atlanta before, I used to love going to see Morticia Deville and the Gospel Echos, and would be upset when I missed a Sunday night. I have yet to miss a night of DI3.
It is the most fun you can have on a Wednesday night. What am I saying, it is the highlight of my week. This coming from a person who claims he has never seen a bad drag show.
That’s really all I have to share. I just wanted you to know how fabulous my Wednesday nights are these days.
What movie will I see this weekend? 10.13.06 5:30pm

P. Lindsay shared with me this interesting article about Wal-Mart’s state of affairs. His blog is down right now for repairs. Bless his heart.

The following article tells the story of how one “mega-church” leader finally said “Enough is Enough!” Here’s a quick line………
The church should steer clear of politics, give up moralizing on sexual issues, stop claiming the United States as a “Christian nation” and stop glorifying American military campaigns.
Now, how is that Sunday School lesson treating you?

Ryan shared with me this article about Green Burials, which I thought was extremely interesting. Take a minute and check it out.

Lastly, below is a video that Michael Melton shared with me. It is so painfully 80s, that it hurts!
You Better......OK I Will Not Go There 08.09.06 6:35pm
I have to give props where props are due, and today I feel like giving them to RuPaul. He says what’s on his mind about dykes on bikes, bearded drag queens, and other things the local news media tend to capture when covering a pride event.
I have one thing to say……..Preach On SISTER GIRL.

StaceyAnn Chin 07.24.06 4:39pm
I received in my inbox recently, a copy of Staceyann Chin’s speech/rant at the Gay Games in Chicago. It has some great points in it, and with that being said, she’s been referred to as “the angry lesbian” on a couple of sports threads that I have read. Anyway, if you have the need for some angst, or just want to read someone else’s, click here, then visit her cyber-journal. You will find the speech/rant in its entirety there.

Michael M. shared with me the following link about the feminist retreat, Camp Sister Spirit. I remember before I started going to USM, I went to like two GLBSO meetings, and one of the CSS founders was there. Very interesting character. I hear they have a very impressive gay and lesbian library. There used to be such tales that they hated men there, and women was always spelled womyn. Come to think of it, that last part may actually be true. Regardless, it’s nice to know that after years and years, some barriers seem to be coming down. Thanks Michael.

Jason kindly shared the news that Natasha Lyonne is actually alive. A little bit on the heavier side, YOU GO CATFISH, but alive nonetheless. Here ya go.
Chavela Bakker Rio Portman 07.20.06 5:36pm
My sister Melissa has turned me on to the most fabulous singer, Chavela Vargas. You can listen to her latest album via the previous link. Melissa, discovered her in the movie Frida, and then I realized that her music has been in some of Pedro Almodovar’s movies. She has a sound that you may either love or hate.

This is a fascinating article about architect John Portman. He is known for introducing the world to it’s fist modern atrium hotel, The Hyatt-Regency Atlanta. He also designed Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles, and Westin Peachtree Plaza.

Or when sounded like A as in Neighbor or Weigh. How many of you have heard of this last part? I for one have not. Princess Lindsay is here this weekend, and I guess her South Louisiana education trumped my rurrall misissipi training. So via, comments, please let me know if you were aware of this added expression.
A Beautiful Chaka Khan Video 07.07.06 8:02pm
It Has Been A Good Day Sister 07.01.06 5:05pm
My weekend has been great, and it is only 4:05 on Saturday. It all started yesterday when, Richard called me on his way to New Olreans. He said that he had a gift check from Staples that expired at the end of the day, that I should go by his trailer-house-in-the-sky to retrieve it and spend as I saw fit, and that is exactly what I did. I thought, what in the world will I get from Staples of all places.
Josh had just hooked me up with a great supply of recordable CDs, so I was set in that area. I opted for a nice messenger bag, small CD case, crate for the trunk of my car, and a set of pastel Sharpies. It was Christmas @ the office. Rest assured, I’m still a little over Richard for leaving me in Atlanta this weekend, but I do hope he has a good time in Nu Orleenz.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ryan Daniel got in touch with me this morning, and we chit-chatted back and forth about goings on what not.. He pointed me to an interesting article from the front page of The Times-Picayune today. It seems that the Six-Flags corporation is ready to pull the plug on its New Orleans location. The park was in one of the hardest hit areas of New Orleans area, with high flood waters and wind damage. Most of you know my fascination with all things abandoned, specifically theme parks, but I do hate to see New Orleans get this disappointment. If you can call it that. The facts are that the park really wasn’t that popular before Katrina reeked havoc on it. I don’t think it ever even turned a profit. Regardless, Six Flags opting not to try and rebuild is giving a signal that it is not worth saving, and I don’t care for that. I don’t know, it’s just a little unsettling. However, according to the article, the park, along with sixty plus acres, and a hefty chunk-o-change will be given to New Orleans. Now, ‘run tell that!’

This week, Creative Loafing published what it calls the 99 things to do to call yourself a True Atlantan. You will be happy to know that I have already completed four out of the top ten. Woo Hoo!! I intend to make that five as soon as Gone With the Wind is screened again at The Fabulous Fox Theatre.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I dropped off some clothes and books this morning at one of my favorite local thrift stores. I got seventeen books, and one CD for a whopping $16.97. The CD of choice was Sonique’s, 2000 album Hear My Cry. If you didn’t know, Sonique is a singer-songwriter, turned internationally acclaimed DJ, turned singer songwriter. I’ve wanted this record for years, but just never got around to getting it. It’s worth the extremely low cost you can get it for these days, if not only for the two high quality singles, It Feels So Good, and Sky (Go Rose Petal!), then for her remake of I Put a Spell On You, and the Thunderpuss produced Love Is On Our Side.
I would actually like to list for you the books that I got, and before you decide to skip over this part, I ask that you NOT. I’m hoping that some of you may have read one or two of the books, and can let me know what you think about them.
Uncivil Seasons – Michael Malone, Face to Face – G. Thompson Brown, East of the Mountains – David Guterson, The Stone Diaries – Carol Shields, Hotel Du Lac – Anita Brookner, The Autobiography of Malcom X as told to Alex Haley, Before Night Falls – Reinaldo Arenas (saw the movie, loved it), Patty Jane’s House of Curl – Lorna Landvik, God, Dr. Buzzard, and the Bolito Man ‘A Saltwater Geeche talks aobut life on Sapelo Island, Georgia’ – Cornelia Walker Bailey, At Home in Mitford – Jan Karon, The Big Rock Candy Mountain – Wallace Stegner, Take Off the Masks – Malcolm Boyd, Snow Falling on Cedars – David Guterson (saw the movie, loved it), A Density of Souls – Christopher Rice (read his second book, and actually liked it), Decorations in a Ruined Cemetery – John Gregory Brown, The Noonday Demon – Andrew Solomon, and finally Elvis and Me by Priscilla Beaulieu Presley. It's the hardbound edition. This is one of the first books that I remember voluntarily reading. Isn't that funny?
I can only hope the rest of this weekend can be this fulfilling, and with two loads of laundry completed while I’ve been writing and watching, I think it just might!
